Sustainability

It's the little things that can make the biggest difference from not encouraging straw usage, reducing single use plastics or even pouring our very own local coral filtered water instead of bottled still water.. it's all good for the planet.

Barbados Sea Turtle Project

Based at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus, The Barbados Sea Turtle Project focuses on the conservation of endangered species through research, education and outreach. Through our partnership, we play an active role in restoring local populations to levels where natural ecological roles can be fulfilled.

Carbon Neutral Properties

Although we aren't quite there yet, we plan to be. At Ocean Hotels, we are proud to say that we already have at least 40% of one of our hotels electricity usage offset by our very own Solar Farm and there are plans to increase this in the years to come.

EcoLab Products and Training

Our cleanliness measures include the use of EcoLab products and training courses to ensure complete safety and peace-of-mind throughout guests’ entire stay at our Barbados Caribbean beach resorts.

Renewable Energy Projects

We have installed solar panels at our main facilities to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and decrease greenhouse gas emissions.

World Earth Day

Ocean Hotels celebrates World Earth Day by giving back to the planet with gardening activities to enhance our kitchen gardens. Our team, equipped with protective gear, plants seedlings and enriches the soil. Throughout the year, Ocean Hotels actively contribute to the Clean Up Barbados campaign and organize internal beach clean-ups.

Clean Up Barbados

This annual, island-wide event is volunteer-driven and keeps Barbados beautiful. The event highlights the harmful impacts that littering and illegal dumping have on Barbados’ ecosystems and residents’ well being, and includes various beach clean up missions.

Weekly Recycling of Oil to Biodiesel

The used oil from the kitchens at Sea Breeze Beach House is recycled, ensuring that this finite resource is used fully. This oil is converted to biodiesel and it is also used in the manufacturing process of animal feed.
